Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Loft’s Employer of Record Services
An employer of record or EOR is a third party entity that employs workers on your behalf. The EOR takes on full responsibility for various aspects of employment, such as preparing employment contracts, managing compensation and benefits, filing tax returns and ensuring compliance with the local country’s labor regulations.
Companies that want to simplify their international hiring often work with an EOR so they can minimize the risks associated with employing overseas workers.
EORs vary from country to country. However, these are some of the most common duties and responsibilities of an EOR:
- Examining the host country’s labor laws to ensure compliance
- Act as an intermediary between client company and relevant government agencies
- Preparing employment contracts and onboarding hired workers
- Creating timesheets and implementing incentive schemes
- Preparing employment visas and work permits
- Processing payroll and providing employee benefits
- Providing consolidated invoicing
- Advising client companies on mandated and optional employee benefits
- Advising the client company on required notice periods, termination rules, etc.
- Advising the client company regarding the best offshore employment strategies
In a nutshell, working with an EOR helps streamline your overseas employment strategy. An EOR allows you to efficiently employ workers in countries like the Philippines, without creating a separate local entity or violating employment regulations.
It’s time-consuming for foreign companies to examine and comply with local employment rules on their own. But with an EOR, you don’t have to worry about the numerous legal facets of employing offshore or remote workers.
When your company is expanding rapidly, your team may be too busy to keep track of employment compliance. Or, when the feasibility of long-term success in a new market is not yet clear, it can be more costly to directly hire new workers.
Hiring indirectly through an EOR puts your company in a good position to:
- Tap into a diverse and high quality talent pool
- Expand your business operations faster without violating local laws
- Minimize overhead costs while achieving growth milestones
- Establish your presence in a new market or region
- Improve product/service quality at scale
While we do specialize in assisting technology and BPO companies, we can work with companies in other sectors or industries as well.
However, at present, we don’t provide EOR services in the Philippines for the manual labor force. In other words, we’re not in the best position to serve companies in the hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, and construction industries.
If you think that Loft can still act as your EOR, please get in touch with us so we can get a better understanding of your needs.
You may contact us via email or via phone call. You can also complete our short contact form.
We don’t outsource any of the work we do for our clients. We have an in-house team that handles all the EOR services we offer.
