The Next 10 Emerging Philippine Startups to Keep an Eye On
To cap off 2024, we’re sharing another batch of promising Philippine startups that caught our attention this year. In case you missed it, here’s the first part of this series. This time, we’re including some impressive organizations based in Visayas and Mindanao.
Many of the businesses in this post are addressing sustainability challenges while meeting the bottom line.
If there’s anything to learn from their example, it’s this: homegrown solutions can be a potent force for positive change.
1. EdukSine
Tired of Hollywood-produced movies and remakes? Check out EdukSine, a streaming platform for Philippine-made films that highlight stories and perspectives close to home.
By providing a platform for independent filmmakers and local talent, Eduksine gives unique Filipino voices a chance to be heard far and wide.
In its pre-seed funding round, Eduksine raised $US 90,000 from investors who are committed to supporting the local creative industry. With continued support, Eduksine can make great strides in the competitive streaming sector.
2. Kumu
Imagine TikTok, but with a distinctly Pinoy twist. That’s what you can expect from Kumu, a social networking app where you’ll find quizzes, games, livestreams, and other interactive features.
Users can earn through the app by producing engaging content. For Filipino creators, this is also an opportunity to find their voice and build a community around shared interests and hobbies.
In 2021, Kumu raised significant Series C funding led by global growth equity firm General Atlantic. The investment cements Kumu’s position as a major player in the Southeast Asia tech scene—fueling its expansion and global aspirations in the coming years.

💡Looking for startup financing? Explore government grants
If you didn’t know already, you can seek grant funding from Philippine government agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Department of Information and Communications Technology.
For instance, from 2021 to 2022 alone, DOST has awarded a total of ₱183 million to 49 Philippine startups.
One of the basic requirements to apply for a grant is business registration with either DTI or the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC).

Bambuhay has garnered recognition and support for its planet-positive mission. In 2024, it was awarded grant funding by the AirAsia Foundation. In 2019, it was one of the grand winners of Startupper of the Year (by TotalEnergies).
